Interior Painting
Painting is at the core of what we do, and over the years we've been able to service our clients very well and deliver a final product that they love! Our clients are mainly in Aurora and surrounding suburbs, but we are happy to go where our clients need us. We don't only do drywall hanging, so whether you are someone who is in need of a fresh coat of interior or exterior paint in your home, your business, or for commercial painting needs, we've got you covered!
Having the right color scheme can have a big impact on your mood and creativity, which is why we offer extensive color patterns from all the major manufacturers such as Benjamin Moore, Behr Premium, Valspar, Dunn Edwards, Glidden, Sherwin Williams and many more. If there's a color you're in search of, we can find it!
Our Interior Painting Process
We take your project seriously, and because of that, we take the necessary steps to keep your furniture, floor and other belongings just as nice as they are before we start our work.
Here's how we go about things:
Prepping The Walls
This is arguably the most important phase of the entire process. Taking the time to do thorough prep work will ensure that the end job looks neat and professional.
We dedicate much of our time to this part so that it doesn't look like a grade schooler came in and painted your walls. Not only do we look for holes, cracks, dents and other surface imperfections but we'll also make sure that the walls and ceilings are free from dust and spider webs.
If we do run into holes in the wall, we'll fill them with a spackling compound and sand them down with very fine grit paper so that they are flush with the walls. We'll also remove any HVAC registers and electrical faceplates to avoid painting them unintentionally.
Apply Painters Tape Throughout The Room
There's nothing worse than getting paint all over the windows, doors and baseboards. It indicates unprofessional work and inexperience not to mention lack of quality work.
We take the time to apply painters tape throughout the entire room before starting any paint job. This ensures a clean, crisp finish and in many cases a dual-tone effect to your walls that you'll love.
Lay Down Drop Cloths and Move Furniture
We'll only paint your walls and ceilings, nothing else should get paint on it. This includes the floor and furniture. To prevent unwanted painting, we'll first make sure to move furniture out of the way so that it doesn't get paint splatter coming from the rollers or paint drops from the ceiling.
We wouldn't want paint all over our picture frames, porcelain dolls or expensive china and neither do you. All of this will be moved to an area that won't be affected by our painters.
This also includes any pieces of furniture that are in the area and have the potential of getting paint on them as well. We'd rather be safe than sorry!
After the furniture and other small pieces have been moved, we'll cover the floor with a canvas cover to protect any carpeting, hardwood, or tiles from paint exposure. We are cautious to leave any area of the floor uncovered and take the proper measures to make sure if paint splatters or spills, it does so on our canvas cloth and not your floors.
Cutting With Primer
Cutting is a term used by painters when applying primer to areas such as corners of a wall or around the window sill before applying paint to the rest of the wall.
It's done because its very hard to use a roller around a corner or around a window sill and have the paint apply perfectly. Instead, we use a paint brush and apply the primer by hand. The rest of the room is painted using a large roller and when everything comes together, their is a very good blended color.
Priming The Wall
Not all walls need to be primed, but if you have newly hung drywall then it's a great way for primer to be absorbed by the drywall and prepped for paint to be applied directly over it.
Some paints already include primer in it and it's a great way to save some time and money by having both in one, but sometimes it makes sense to apply a layer of primer before painting such as when the current underlying layer is starkly darker than the layer that will be painted on the wall. In this case, you run the chance of having the darker layer still show through. In our opinion that's a failure, so we'll make sure to put enough primer to avoid that.
Primer also helps to smooth out a surface and minimize the sight of tape, holes or putty, but if it's determined that a separate layer of primer isn't needed either because you have a flush wall or the underlying layer won't have an effect on the new layer, then we'll just use paint where they are both combined.
Painting The Ceiling and Walls
Now that the primer is dry we can apply the desired paint color. We'll go about it much the same way we did with the primer except this is the real deal so we'll be more careful not to leave any streaks or marks on the wall.
It's also a good idea to apply more than one coat if needed, so we'll let the first coat dry before reapplying the second coat. At this point the hard work has been done and we need to let it sit and air dry. We'll look to get your final sign off and then pack up!
The Clean Up
Once the job has been completed to your satisfaction, we'll leave the site the same way we found it. We remove all of the painters tape around the windows, doors, floor boards and molding, we also move all the furniture back to its original space and pattern and we'll obviously roll up the canvas cloth from the floor being careful not to smear any paint onto the floor.
